DSP-Only Parameters
The VL3X firmware contains more capability than its screen reveals. DSP-only parameters are processed by the hardware's digital signal processor but have no corresponding control on the device's own UI. They exist in the firmware's preset memory and affect audio output, but TC-Helicon chose not to surface them on the hardware interface.
Why do they exist? The SHARC DSP running the VL3X's audio engine has many algorithm parameters that would clutter the hardware's screen. TC-Helicon exposed a curated subset for the hardware UI while leaving the rest accessible only through SysEx. Pilot reads and writes these parameters directly over MIDI, giving you control that was previously impossible without custom software.
DSP-only parameters are firmware-level globals, not stored in the preset binary. They are addressed by sysex_id (no preset offset) and sent directly to the DSP engine. In Pilot they are updated in real time, but they do not travel with individual presets the way standard parameters do.
