DSP-Only Parameters

67 params

System-level DSP controls accessed via SysEx. These persist across preset switches and reboots, and are not accessible through the VL3/X's own interface.

AutoShape (Dual-Band Dynamic EQ) 10 params
The engine behind the SHAPE knob. Two crossover frequencies, per-band gain curves for quiet and loud input, glide speed, RMS detection, and threshold targets. Shape your tone dynamically instead of relying on a single preset curve.
Pitch Detection 3 params
Algorithm selection, voiced/unvoiced threshold, and enable control. Tune how aggressively the pitch tracker locks onto your voice for harmony and correction.
Vocal Compressor 5 params
Attack, release, knee shape, ratio, and enable. The detailed dynamics controls behind the preset compressor styles. Tighten or loosen your vocal dynamics with precision.
De-Esser 5 params
Attack speed, detection frequency, target frequency, reduction depth, and release. Go beyond the single DE-ESS knob to precisely control sibilance reduction.
Guitar Waveshaper 14 params
The distortion engine exposed. Pre/post gain staging, parametric EQ before and after the waveshaper, clipping threshold, asymmetric bias, positive and negative slope curves, and peak sharpness. Design your own distortion character from scratch.
Guitar Compressor 5 params
Ratio, threshold, attack, release, and makeup gain. Full manual control over guitar dynamics instead of preset-only compression styles.
Metronome Pattern Engine 12 params
Cowbell accent, click depth, clock beats, divisions per bar, reset behavior, sound selection, timing shift, output routing, pattern audition, play frequency, cycles per beat, and click style. The full click track engine hidden behind the simple play/level on the hardware.
Signal Routing 4 params
Digital input level, AUX source selection, lead vocal pan, and delay-to-reverb feed. Control signal paths that aren't accessible from any hardware menu.
Looper Track Levels 3 params
Individual level control for Loop tracks A, B, and C. The hardware only shows a master looper fader. Now you can mix your loops like separate tracks.
Vocal Lead Sends 6 params
Control how much dry lead vocal feeds into Harmony, Double, uMod, Delay, Reverb, and the preset trim bus. Fine-tune your lead vocal presence in every effect independently.

Hidden Preset Parameters

13 params

Stored per-preset in the hardware. These persist when you save and switch presets, but TC Helicon never gave you a screen to edit them.

Harmony Envelope 3 params
Attack, release, and hold/release time. Shape how harmony voices fade in and out. Tighten the envelope for percussive vocal styles, or soften it for pads and sustained harmony.
Harmony Output EQ 6 params
3-band parametric EQ (low, mid, high frequency and gain) applied to the harmony voices after generation. Shape the tone of your harmonies independently from your lead vocal.
Vocal Delay Ducking 4 params
Ducking on/off, threshold, attenuation amount, and release time. Automatically reduce delay level while you're singing so the effect stays clean and present without masking your voice.

Hidden System Parameters

12 params

Global system settings that persist across presets and power cycles. These affect the entire signal chain.

Ducking Chain (Lead/Harmony Gate) 6 params
Lead and harmony attenuation levels, attack and release times for the vocal gate chain. Control exactly how quickly the gate opens and closes, and how much attenuation is applied when the gate is closed.
System Limiter (Headphone + RoomSense) 6 params
Threshold, attack, and release for both the headphone output limiter and the RoomSense limiter. Protect your ears and fine-tune the dynamics of your monitoring chain.

Hardware-verified on VL3X firmware 2.3.07 (build 379).
Every parameter was probed via SysEx, range-swept for accuracy, and audibly confirmed on a connected VL3X. These aren't guesses from documentation. They're verified facts.
