VL3/x Pilot can't see
your VL3 or VL3x?
A hidden Chrome flag is quietly blocking WebMIDI, so VL3/x Pilot throws
“No VL3/x found. Check USB connection.” even when the cable, port, and device are perfectly fine.
Symptom
Pop-up: “No VL3/x found. Check USB connection.”
Valid USB-mini to USB-A cable, multiple ports tried, all other apps closed. VL3/x Pilot still sees nothing.

Root cause
On some Chrome builds the WebMIDI permission flag ships as Default, which silently disables SysEx access.
Pilot never receives the device handshake, so no VL3X is detected.
The Fix / 4 Steps
Flip WebMIDI to Enabled in Chrome.
STEP 01
In Chrome, go to chrome://flags
Paste into the address bar. Not a normal URL.
STEP 02
In the search field, type WebMIDI
Filters the flag list down to the WebMIDI entry.
STEP 03
If it reads Default, change it to Enabled
Use the dropdown on the right of the flag.
STEP 04
Relaunch Chrome, reopen VL3/x Pilot, grant MIDI permission
VL3/x Pilot should detect the device on the first try.
Why it works
VL3/x Pilot talks to your VL3/x over WebMIDI with SysEx enabled. When the flag sits on Default, Chrome quietly withholds that permission and the device never announces itself. Forcing Enabled restores the channel.
